Purchase Guide : **** EDIT NOTE (September 28th. 2009): SCROLL BAR MISSING on the purchase pages for image sizes has been reported by some users and I am looking into the problem: But it appears to only be a problem on SOME INTERNET BROWSERS LIKE MSN EXPLORER. Foxfire & Internet Explorer seem to function just fine. That said, if by chance you cannot get a scroll-slider while attempting to select a particular image size, then exit that page, return to the photo gallery and then click on the 'buy' and when the small box below opens, select 'photos in this gallery' -- That will open a new window with all that galleries photos. NOW- look on the upper right for a box titled "CHANGE PRODUCT"--- when that opens into a new window you will now have a scroll bar. Sorry for the inconvenience. A list of supported browsers for this site explained here: http://www.smugmug.com/help/supported-systems Need help with purchasing page? First: My photos are of good quality. The print sizes offered on the purchase pages directly reflect the original quality of my photos: larger sizes offered indicate more pixels, each vary with resolution. . In other words, the printers will not print pixel-stressed grainy photographs. The Pro-lab we use does an excellent job on all printing and will rectify any errors at no cost should there be any, which is extremely rare. BUYING PHOTOS for prints OR digital downloads: The purchase page can be a little confusing the first time through so here are some guide notes: Just be sure to select a quantity (The plus + sign adds more copies), even if it's only one, or you cannot proceed to 'check-out' or make cropping adjustments. DIGITAL DOWNLOADS ONLY: 1) If you want to purchase a direct digital download of a photo: >Select the photo >select ‘ buy this photo’ (cart) > or ‘multiple photos’ > On the purchasing page select "DOWNLOADS" on the top tool bar to open the list. > select your desired resolution. NOTE: Be sure to select the resolution that also matches a “Personal License (P)’ OR ‘Commercial License (C)’ as is appropriate for you. For PRINTS ONLY: "Prints categories:" The main things to be aware of with this are: ‘STANDARD’ - For photo paper prints. -- I usually only offer 'Lustre' paper prints. (Contact me if you really want gloss, matt, or chrome finishes) or ‘OTHER’ for odd sizes like square. FOR Canvas, select 'CANVAS' on the purchase page tool bar. 1) Many of my photos are pre-cropped for my personal effect, therefore, if you want to have a full-framed print, or even desire to crop it differently, you will need to make those selections yourself. 2) Changes to images are done on the checkout page with your selected shopping cart images; changes like ‘AUTO or NO-CROP’ (NONE)- Use the drop-down arrow next to the ‘crop’ box-- I suggest 'No-crop' (NONE) for most of my images. 3) For a different size print or paper type on the same images you chose, use the ‘duplicate’ box - also on the checkout page for each photo, and choose a quantity. 4) ‘ LUSTRE ’ is the nicest finish on prints in my opinion (Under 'Standard Sizes' or 'Other'). ****The "ROLLED CANVAS" is pretty cool! {Select 'CANVAS' to find what is available. 5) Again, if you desire more than one print be sure to select that number by clicking on the plus (+) sign for that photo on the purchase page. Coqui Frogs Hawaii : The coqui are a new species to Hawaii and driving us all crazy as they rapidly spread from mountain to sea. They hitchhiked to Hawaii on plants in the mid-nineties. They also cling to cars and hitchhike to new locations, accelerating their spread throughout the Islands. Most chirping is at night. They will enter homes if windows are open. The frogs suck air into a belly air sac before placing it into their throat sac for each piercingly shrill 90-decibel mating call. The strange thing is, even while watching these frogs closely, we cannot tell where the sound comes out of them; their mouth remains closed before, during and after the call. Only the males chirp like this.
