A spectacular and ever changing flow of lava pours from the earth on the southeast side of the Island of Hawaii, or the Big Island. I live a short distance away allowing me wonderful opportunities to take photos.
In this gallery I continue to display my ongoing collection of molten lava photos; I hope you enjoy these.
NOTE: The photos of the massive lava plume at night were purposely taken on high ISO, which will show as mild graininess on larger prints-- but well worth printing ;)

~ Pele Roars #3 ~ A massive explosion takes place at the base of the plume where molten lava is pumping into the ocean on the Island of Hawaii.
The plume is comprised of steam, sulfur dioxide, glass particles, ash, rock, and black sand. As the molten lava pours out of the lava tubes that carried it from magma chambers under the flanks of Mauna Loa volcano above, it instantly explodes into black sand and rock fragments. Many of these molten chunks will continue floating and steaming on the ocean.
